  • I’m sure Toto didn’t mean what I’m about to say when they sung their song ‘Africa’ but I heard it the other day and it made me think 🤔 about life a lot. This is what I thought: Changing habits is hard. It’s not something you just wake up one morning and get perfect. It takes time and we have to take some time, slow down, think it through and do the things we never have. I also thought, life’s too short to be stuck in the same old same old. Take some time to do things that you never have. It’s why my business the @healthyeatinghub is not just another dietetics practice. We’re much more than that. We’re doing things different. Let the other dietitians do the traditional model, I’m breaking free of that mould and you’ll see much more of that in the coming months. Lastly, I was thinking about being a mum and how there are so many amazing things that I can show my kids but I get too busy. I wanna take the time to do the things we never have. These are my deep thoughts for a Tuesday.

  • This meal hit all the nutritional principles for my current goals and it took me 15mins to make at work. It was easy because: 1. I have solid nutrition knowledge for my goals 2. I had the food in my fridge/pantry ready to go 3. I have the skills to know hoe to cook it and make it taste amazing! You too can have this food confidence. But you don’t get it from diet programs or pressure to be thin/lean. You also don’t get it from having more ‘willpower’ and try to stick to a new diet plan or program. You do it by accepting who you are, getting clear awareness over your current habits, and then committing to a process of gradually changing one part of your diet at a time by building habits, routines and behaviours into your life that make the healthy choice the easy choice. It’s not a sexy, fan-dangled, secret to being healthy. It’s a realistic, sustainable and practical approach to food that at its core believe that healthy eating is a skill and that as humans we have the amazing ability to learn develop and practice skills so that they become second nature.
